By air

Before Elliot Park was created here the location of this park was basically a garbage dump site. Soon this area became an eyesore for the residents staying nearby in that area. They started complaining about the garbage dumps here. However, it was then that Tata Steel took the initiative to build this park at the same location. Soon Tata Steel transformed the dump site into this beautiful park.

They also maintained and beautified the park for a few years. But later the administration rights got transferred to Kolkata Municipal Corporation and Kolkata Police. Currently the park is under the authority of Kolkata Municipal Corporation. In 2004 the then chief minister of West Bengal Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee inaugurated the Elliot Park Kolkata. From the time of the opening of this park it has been a popular sightseeing spot for visitors. Both tourists as well as locals enjoy visiting this beautiful park in Kolkata.
